Was bored one night so I "freehanded" a small (fake) tattoo on my arm. The text says Death by Sexy since that was the album I was currently listening to (by The Eagles of Death Metal).

Kaboom!

When my little ones had been younger, we utilized to go to the fireworks every single year. Eventually, they got older and wanted to be with their close friends instead of us, and I stopped going. Tired of fighting the site visitors and crowds. I spent some lost years on the couch, hearing the booms in the distance, each July four, watching “Law and Order” reruns or some thing, scotch in hand…

The annual show is advertised as 1 of the very best in the country (who votes on this stuff, anyway?). Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of boats converge on a mile wide perimeter surrounding the launch barges, the beachs are packed, the estimates upwards of 100,000 folks attending, an amorphous herd of boozed-up, badly tattooed, sunburned tourists, all howling and yammering for far more entertainment at the finish of a extremely extended day…

So it’s been a whilst. This year, I wanted to get some pictures, and had a possible vantage point in thoughts, displaying the entire scene. Soon after a climb, at sundown I found myself out on a ledge, perched like an eagle in his aerie, 400 feet above the action. The display didn’t disapoint, and the shoot was exciting: manual mode, bulb priority, shoot a lot, and hope for the greatest.

This image is about half way into the show, and caught all 3 mortars firing simultaneously, which is cool.

Far more fireworks photo foolishness!: stevedunleavy.smugmug.com/Events/Fireworks/17899957_5cxKW…

Cheers,
Steve
